If we prayed that God would raise up harvesters (see Prayer), how would we know if He answered? What would it look like? What would be the result?
When we ask this question in Five Loaves ReFocus groups, we often hear the answer, “People would be stepping up to volunteer as missionaries.”
But how would they be identified? Who would see them?
It would seem that today, we need a new wave…a new generation of missionaries, both from the USA as well as from other traditional missionary-sending countries AND from the global South (traditional missionary-receiving countries). In the USA, we’ll likely need at least one representative in each congregation which is willing to operate as a missionary-greenhouse. This representative would be operating like a secret agent, hoping to notice people, young and old alike, who are interested in serving cross-culturally. Once we learn about a prospective new recruit, we need some kind of system to help him//her discern a path for involvement.
